John 9:39–40 (NKJV)
39 And Jesus said, “For judgment I have come into this world, that those who do not see may, and that those who see may be made blind.”
40 Then some of the Pharisees who were with Him heard these words, and said to Him, “Are we blind also?”
There are those who profess to know Jesus. They have a false knowledge, belief in God. We can know all about God and not know God. We can know the Bible from Genesis 1:1 through Revelation 22:21 and never know the true and living God. Knowledge is good but knowledge misapplied can kill. There is no one who knows more about God than Satan. Yet Satan will spend eternity separated from God in Hell.
James writes in James 4:17 “Therefore, to him who knows to do good and does not do it, to him it is sin.”
Jesus is the great revelator of truth. He came to reveal Himself to us. He came to heal the spiritually blind. Jesus came to open the eyes of the spiritually blind.
The Pharisees, those who professed to know God asked, “Are we blind also?” To know, to profess to know what evil is and do it and do it is sin. To know good and not do it is sin.
We have too many pharisees who think they see and not enough blind wanting to see the truth.
John 18:37 “Pilate therefore said to Him, “Are You a king then?” Jesus answered, “You say rightly that I am a king. For this cause I was born, and for this cause I have come into the world, that I should bear witness to the truth. Everyone who is of the truth hears My voice.”
