Romans 4:3
3 For what does the Scripture say? “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.”
Genesis 15:6 in speaking of Abraham says, “he believed in the Lord, and He accounted it to him for righteousness. Abraham already proved he trusted God in Genesis 12 by leaving his homeland and going to Canaan. Hebrews 11:8 tells us, “By faith Abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to the place which he would receive as an inheritance. And he went out, not knowing where he was going.”
The word believe and faith go together. If I have faith in God, then I believe God and act on His word. Abraham believed God! There are many legalists surrounding us. They will continually point to the law showing us where we have transgressed and violated the law.
The law is important in that it does show us we are sinful sinners. The law will never make us righteous. We are saved by the grace of God. His grace is received by faith in Jesus Christ. Remember Abraham believed God, he trusted God, and it was “accounted to him for righteousness.”
Faith is more than just a word. Faith in God is acting on His Word. It is leaving all behind and moving forward. It may be staying where God has planted you.
Abraham trusted God! Because he trusted God, God blessed him. Because he trusted God he became a blessing to others.
