Psalm 37:5–8 (NKJV)
5 Commit your way to the LORD, trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.
6 He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday.
7 Rest in the LORD and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.
8 Cease from anger and forsake wrath; Do not fret—it only causes harm.
Where is your commitment? Who do you trust? What has God called you to do? Christians will be attacked. The word “commit” is used meaning, and this is a very loose interpretation, keep on doing what God has called you to do. If you back up to verse four, the psalmist say we are to “Delight ourselves in the Lord” and God will give you the desires of your heart. Of course, the person who has committed himself to God will be doing God’s will.
We are to rest in the Lord! There are many evil doers in this world who work to destroy the peace of God. Christians place their trust in God! Proverbs 3:5–6 “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.”
Knowing God is God and He is in control gives us the peace and strength to follow Him. The follower of Christ waits on God.
The psalmist gives encouraging words to the follower of Christ. Trust your life to God. Live your life with the assurance that God is in control and His plan for your life will be brought to completion. Do not allow anger to rule your life…it only leads to evil.
Trust God…be patient…maintain a heart of peace…it may seem the evil doers are succeeding in their work of satanic evil, but God is in control. God’s timing is always perfect. Being impetuous as a Christian is not good. Love those who hate you.
