John 3:16–19 (NKJV)
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.
“This is the condemnation.” This is the choice we make. We either accept or reject Jesus. Jesus has given each one a choice. A choice to either accept Him or reject Him.
Many live a life of a “false positive.” They profess with their mouth but do not believe in their heart. The power of positive thinking will get no one into the Kingdom of God. There is nothing wrong with being positive or thinking positive. But just thinking positive will get no one into the Kingdom of God. One person wrote “false positivity is a shallow substitute for hope.” The song says, “My hope is built on nothing less the Jesus blood and righteousness; I dare not trust the sweetest frame, but wholly lean on Jesus’ name.”
In today’s world it is easy to be negative even knowing Christ is in control. The Christian finds joy not in the things of this world but in relationship with Christ! Peter wrote, “who having not seen you love. Though now you do not see Him, yet believing, you rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory.” (1 Peter 1:8)
When Jesus was born the angels announced, “Good tidings of great Joy.” (Luke 2:10). So, if you are living in a negative world quit listening to the world and look to God. (This is too simplistic.) but in Nehemiah, it says “Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.” (Nehemiah 8:10)
We do not celebrate the evil of this world. We do celebrate the salvation of God. We are to let others know about the hope we have. Living in dark depression is not celebrating. No one wants a faith that is dark and depressing. We need to allow the light of Christ to shine from us. Jesus said in Matthew 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Now go into the world with the light of Jesus abounding and shining in the darkness of this world. The light of Jesus always over comes the darkness of the world.
