Matthew 7:15–16 (NKJV)
15“Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.
16You will know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes from thornbushes or figs from thistles?
False teachers. How do we know who they are? Very simply put we need to know what the Bible says. We are to study the Bible. Paul writes to Timothy, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. (2 Timothy 2:15) Each Christian should know God’s Word. One of the reasons Christians are kept from finding the right way, the way of God, are false teachers. They are all around us. Jesus told His followers to “Enter by the narrow gate…and to “BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravenous wolves.”
In life we have choices. We choose who we listen to. We choose who we follow. The most important decision we make is do we listen to follow the god of this world, Satan or the God of all creation.
The false prophets are out there. They can even be found standing in the pulpit. How do we know who they are? Study the Word of God, the Bible. Be involved in the church, in Bible study, fellowship with other believers.
Devour, consume the Word of God. Jeremiah 15:16 “Your words were found, and I ate them, And Your word was to me the joy and rejoicing of my heart; For I am called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.”
How do we know the false prophets? We know the Word of God! We study the Word of God. We fellowship with other believers in the Word of God. We involve ourselves in small group study with other Christians. We are active in worship services with other followers of Christ.
Christians are to be diligent to present themselves approved to God!
