John 8:31–32
31 Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed.
32 And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
John 10:10
10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
True freedom does not come through any person, state, or government. True freedom comes through Jesus Christ.
Knowing the truth of God found in Jesus leads us to freedom.
Many are caught up in a spiritual prison. Everything God intended for and wants us to have has been stolen by Satan. He not only has stolen but has destroyed what God intended for us. The only true freedom we can have is found through abiding, living in the truth of God.
The freedom Christ brings us is the abundant life God intended for us in the Garden. The deception of Satan stole that freedom from us through Adam. We can regain the freedom by focusing on God and allowing Him to not only live in us but for us to follow Him by dedicating our lives to Him.
The Declaration of Independence of the United States says, “The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America, When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.”
The laws of Nature and of NATURE’S GOD. A little license here in opining on this “Declaration of Independence.” True freedom does not come from the government but from God Himself. Government makes laws that affect the outward actions of others. It is the inward part of people that needs to be changed. Abundant life does not come from a government. It comes from God and His living in us. You want fulness of life? You want to live an abundant life? If so, you have to be willing to reject Satan and allow God not only to be our Savior but the Lord of our lives.
So many want the salvation but not the dedication to freedom in Christ. Have you noticed when government makes laws it places outward restrictions on the governed? People are not changed by laws that restrict outward actions. True change comes from the inward parts of people, the mind, the will, the heart of people. Only God can change the inward life.
Matthew 6:33 “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.”
