Colossians 1:9–12 (NKJV)
9 For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;
10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God;
11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy;
12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light.
Having accepted Christ is more than just going to heaven. We accept Christ and have the capacity to know His will, wisdom and spiritual understanding. As Christians we have the power of the Holy Spirit to walk worthy of the Lord.
Paul prayed for the Christians of his day. He prayed continuously for the believers of his day. We should be praying for one another. We should let others know we are praying for them.
We must also be growing in our knowledge of God’s will in our lives and help others to grow in Him. As we grow in Christ, we are to help others to grow in Him. We are to be so filled with the knowledge of Christ that we sweat Christ. This does not mean we are holy rollers…it means we carry the name of Jesus wherever we go. We not only have the knowledge of Christ growing in us we demonstrate that knowledge. Having Christ live in us involves every aspect of our lives. It involves our thinking, our speaking and our doing.
Paul prayed for the believers of his day. We should be praying for the believers of our day. We should be praying for the will of God to be working in our life and the lives of others. The lyrics of the songs say it well, “While passing through this world of sin, And others your life shall view, Be clean and pure without, within, Let others see Jesus in you.”
If we as followers of Christ are not demonstrating our faith in Him and praying for others, who will?
