Daily Devotion (September 16, 2024)

Jude 5–7 (NKJV)
5 But I want to remind you, though you once knew this, that the Lord, having saved the people out of the land of Egypt, afterward destroyed those who did not believe.
6 And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day;
7 as Sodom and Gomorrah, and the cities around them in a similar manner to these, having given themselves over to sexual immorality and gone after strange flesh, are set forth as an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire.

Should the United States of America be treated any different? Should any nation be treated differently? What about individuals? How many remain faithful to God after deliverance? Paul writes in Romans 10:9–10 “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Jesus said in Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”

Many profess with their mouth they have accepted Christ as Savior, but few have received Him as the true Savior of their lives. Many have confessed with their mouth but in their heart, they still make Satan the god they follow.

America is on the verge of destruction. Christianity is only an after thought on Sunday mornings or whenever the “church” meets. For many if the service (worship is intentionally left off) does not touch some emotional nerve then it is not true worship. It has been said many times that America is the Sodom and Gomorrah of modern times.

God has delivered His people. God has destroyed the unbeliever and will continue to destroy. Hardened hearts will be removed. Of the hundreds of thousands who were delivered from Egypt how many of them entered into the Promise Land…only two.

Abraham prayed for God to spare Sodom and Gomorrah if righteous people could be found there. However, the cities were ultimately destroyed because not even ten righteous people were found.

The only people who escaped were Lot and his two daughters. Lot’s wife initially escaped but looked back at the city and was turned into a pillar of salt.

Can America be saved? Can the church be saved? I do not know. What I do know is I must be faithful to God’s call and continue to be the voice of God in the church and in the nation.

Will YOU stand for God?
