Joshua 1:6–7
6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them.
7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go.

It is interesting, of the multitude of Israelites who left Egypt to go to the Promise Land only two, Joshua and Caleb, entered it. Only these two knew of the captivity and brutal enslavement the Israelites went through. Even Moses, the leader who took them out, did not enter. Why?

God appointed Joshua to lead the people into the Promise Land. God appointed Joshua, He prepared Joshua, and He went with Joshua. The calling was no small task.

God reminded Joshua that Moses was dead and he, Joshua, was to fill the gap, to take up the mantle of leadership. For forty years God had prepared Joshua for this time. What did God command Joshua to do? “Be strong and courageous. He was to lead the people to inherit the Land promised to them. Joshua was to be “strong and courageous” in obedience to God’s call. He was to be obedient to God. No matter what, he was not turn from God and His Word.

We today are to be strong and obedient to God! We are to meditate on God and His Word. Meditation is not just some moment in time. It is not just reading God’s Word and saying a prayer. Meditating on God’s Word is taking it with us wherever we go allowing it to direct us. Meditating on God’s Word is allowing it to direct us down the path we travel. It is allowing God to speak not only to us but through us.

This passage is a reminder to be strong and courageous in the face of challenges. it encourages us to trust in God’s promises and guidance even when the path ahead seems daunting. Faith, confidence, and obedience to God is important. To be obedient to God takes courage in todays world. Knowing God’s Word is important. Joshua had forty years of instruction from Moses. Now it was time to lead the people. What has God called you to do?
Christianity in America is about to be challenged in a way we have not seen.
