James 4:7–8
7Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
8Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
Satan is the great deceiver. If we are not following God, then we are following Satan. Satan is the antithesis of God. Satan wants to rule the world. He was the great deceiver in the Garden. Because he was listened to all humanity lost the beauty God had given to His greatest creation…us.
Satan goes by many names or titles:
- The Devil
- Lucifer
- The Adversary
- Beelzebub
- The Evil One
- Prince of Darkness
- The Tempter
- Father of Lies
The devil represents evil and rebellion against God. He seeks to undermine God’s work and lead people (even those who profess Jesus as Savior) away from God.
If you are not following God, then you are following Satan. There is no duplicity in God’s Kingdom. You either follow God or you follow Satan.
Adam and Eve are not the only ones who have chosen to follow the deception of Satan. Many in the church are following the lies of Satan.
Is there hope? YES! But we must place ourselves under the care, power and strength of God. This means we yield to God, His will, His command, His instructions. In short, we are to surrender ourselves to God. We are to allow Him to strengthen us so we can do what He calls us to do.
In 1972 Hal Lindsey wrote a book entitled, “Satan is alive and well on planet earth.” That same Satan is at work today. Satan is at work in the church. When Satan attacks immediately turn away from his evil and let God fight your battle and command your life. What a difference it would have made had Adam and Eve did not followed the destructive lies of Satan.
