Daily Devotion (December 4, 2024)
John 3:16-17
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
The Greatest Story ever told. These verses speak of God’s love. The birth of Jesus is the ultimate expression of God’s love for the world. God voluntarily gave His one and only son for us so we could have life and have life more abundantly here on earth and spend eternity in Heaven with Him. Jesus was born not only to live for us but to die for our sin.
We were given the greatest gift we could ever receive. It is not just having eternal life. It is knowing God. Knowing God is a personal and spiritual journey through life that includes Knowing the Word of God, the Bible. It is meditating on the Bible allowing God to give us a deeper insight to who God is an His love for us. Knowing God is not just having God live in our lives, but it is allowing God to speak to us and for us to speak to Him. It is knowing we have constant communication with God. We can go to God at any time. Prayer can be a group event or being by ourselves.
Worship and praise of God is not only a private event in our lives, but also meeting together with other believers in singing and prayer and hearing the Word of God proclaimed. Worship is living out our lives daily honoring God in our words and actions.
Worshiping God is allowing God to live in us and living for God. Worshiping God is reaching out to the world in love, even in sacrificing ourselves by giving of ourselves to do His will and to touch the lives of other.
Worshiping God is a personal experience but also a corporate experience. We worship God with each breath we take. We worship God in our thoughts and actions. We allow the world to see Jesus living in us as we journey through each day.
Christians have the Greatest story ever told living in them. And we are to share that story with others.
