Daily Devotion (January 9, 2025)

“But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” (Isaiah 4o:31)

This is one of my favorite Bible verses. Isaiah Chapter 40 is a passage of comfort and Hope. It speaks of the power and majesty of God.

The nation of Israel has through the centuries demonstrated resilience and faith. They have faced challenges and adversaries. The nation has been defeated over the millennia but faith in God, has seen them through. There has always been hope. The word “wait” The wait on God is not a passive act. It is an active expression of faith and hope. We are to trust God to fulfill His promises and provide strength and renewal…NOW THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT…”IN HIS TIME.”

God is not mandated to do things our way or on our timeline.

I use Isaiah 40:31 often because of the great promise God gave to the Israelites. God says wait. God is at work!

We show faith and hope in God by trusting in His timing. It is not easy waiting.

We demonstrate true hope by not getting ahead of God. Those who hope in the Lord will find their strength renewed.

We prove our faith in God by waiting on Him. The word “wait does not mean just to sit around and do nothing. It involves actively seeking and trusting God. There is an active expectation that He will provide. Paul writes in Philippians 4:19, “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” The psalmist writes in Psalm 23:1, “The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”

Waiting is not easy…but this passage of Scripture clearly states we are to wait. God is saying as one of my grandsons says at time, “I got this.”

Let go and let God.
