Daily Devotion (January 11, 2025)

Psalm 34:8 “Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the one who takes refuge in Him.”

Trust in God! We can experience God’s goodness in our lives. We can have a personal and intimate experience with God firsthand. We do not have to go through anyone else for this experience.

We find security in God. Isaiah writes “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” (Isaiah 41:10)

Jesus says in Matthew 28:20: “And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

In Deuteronomy 31:6 Moses tells the Israelites “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” As followers we must trust God to take us through all opposition in following Him. We can be assured of God’s presence in our lives.

Times are going to be more difficult. The enemy, Satan, is on the prowl and seeking who he can destroy. Peter writes, “Be alert and of sober mind, Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” (1 Peter 5:8)

As the Israelites were cautioned to follow God as He led them to the Promised Land, we are to follow God as He leads us through life into His eternal presence. Life is not about the material possessions we have. Our security is not found in the “things” we have. Our security is found in God and God alone. He uses resources of this world not for us to worship but as His tools to help us fulfill His purpose in and through our lives.
