Psalm 92
12 The righteous shall flourish like a palm tree,
He shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon.
13 Those who are planted in the house of the Lord
Shall flourish in the courts of our God.
14 They shall still bear fruit in old age;
They shall be fresh and flourishing,
15 To declare that the Lord is upright;
He is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in Him.
The Righteous will flourish:
Those who are planted in the house of the Lord will flourish.
They shall still bear fruit in old age.
God is the Rock.
I still remember it as if it were today. A youth rally at Evangel Temple. I was 16 years old. The sanctuary was filled with youth from across Columbus. The speaker we old. I cannot remember his name. I do know he walked up to the pulpit using a cane. His words were clear. The only words I heard were “God has a plan and purpose for your life.” Those were good words. But, there was something else he said. He said God had picked out the person we were to marry.
These words stuck with me. He told the packed sanctuary filled with youth to do something I took seriously. He said pray that God would lead us to who He chose for us to marry. Again, I took this very seriously. Wise words came from his message. He told us we should never date anyone we would not consider marrying. Now, after over 50 years of marriage to the same person, I know his words were true.
We must follow God’s plan for our lives. We are to live a righteous life filled with the purpose and plan of God. The righteous will flourish, even in old age God is still at work. Living now in my seventies I realize God still has a plan and purpose for my life. I do not know what today will bring in my life. I do know God knows. I do not know what tomorrow will bring in my life; I do know God knows. I live with great expectation of God working a miracle through my life. He has in the past and I know He will today and in the future.
If you are old and reading this remember God still has a plan for your life.
