Daily Devotion (January 17, 1025)

Ephesians 4:4-6 “There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to one hope when you were called; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”

The church, the body of Christ. All Christians are not the same. The members of the church are baptized believers in Jesus Christ. Each member of the church has at least one spiritual gift given to them at the time they accepted Christ into their lives. Being a part of the body of Christ is important. Each member has the opportunity to exercise their spiritual gift in the church. “Believers use their spiritual gifts within the Body of Christ to strengthen the church and help fellow members become more fruitful.”

The unity of the church is anchored in our shared faith in Jesus Christ. Unity is not just about agreement but about living in harmony with one another. Christians serve Christ by serving each other. The church, body of Christ, serves God by working together, worshiping together to carry out God’s plan and purpose of the church.

Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 12:4-7, “There are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit. There are differences in ministries, but the same Lord. And there are diversities of activities, but it is the same God who works all in all. But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to each one for the profit of all.”

As a Christian and a member of the Body of Christ what spiritual gift(s) has God given you to help build up the church?
