Daily Devotion (February 25, 2025)

Hebrews 1:10-12
10.And: “You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth,
And the heavens are the work of Your hands.
11 They will perish, but You remain;
And they will all grow old like a garment;
12 Like a cloak You will fold them up,
And they will be changed.
But You are the same,

God is the Creator of all things. The world and the things of the world are temporal. So why do we worship the temporal and not the eternal? Why do we worship the created and not the eternal Creator?

We are born with five senses. They are essential for interacting with the world around us. We are also born with five spiritual senses.

  • Spiritual sight involves perceiving spiritual truths, insights, and revelations.
  • Spiritual hearing gives us the ability to hear and discern the voice of God.
  • Spiritual taste gives us the ability to experience the goodness and sweetness of God. (Psalm 34:8; “Taste and see that the Lord is good…”)
  • Spiritual smell allows us to discern spiritual atmospheres and sense what is pleasing to God.
  • Spiritual touch allows us to feel the tangible presence of God. We can experience the sensations of peace, warmth and divine connection.

We read “eat” the Word of God. We digest His Word.

  • Jeremiah 15:16 “when your words came, I ate them; they were my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear your name, Lord God Almighty.”
  • Ezekiel 3:3 “Then he said to me, ‘Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.’ So, I ate it, and tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.”
  • Matthew 4:4 “Jesus answered, ‘It is written: Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every Word that comes from the mouth of God.’”

How do you “eat” the Word of God?

  • Read the Word
  • Meditate on the Word
  • Memorize the Word.
  • Apply and share the Word!
