Daily Devotion (March 9, 2025)

Isaiah 55:8-9

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

The mind of Christ! We are to know Christ so well that when we sweat we sweat the mind of Christ. Our thought are so filled with Christ that when we talk we should be portraying the thoughts of Christ. We are to be different. People should see Christ in us. When we face difficult situations people should see Christ in us. It is easy to portray Christ when everything is going great in life. When we do not face the difficult worldly challenges it is easy to follow Christ.

Thinking of allowing Christ’s thoughts to be our thoughts places us in some difficult situations. Throughout the Bible God’s people went through the trials of following God’s calling and will in their life. Tests and challenges refine character, strength, and resilience. I never liked taking tests in school. But, the test helped me know what I knew. The tests God allows us to go through in life helps us to know how much we trust God.

A life unchallenged is a life that will miss its fullest potential. A life not tested is a life not fully realized. The Christians faith will be tested. We learn our strengths, values, and capacity for growth

Every Christian should read “Pilgrim’s Progress.”

(A little pause…my computer just shut down. This reminds me of how life can be. I thought I was connected to the power strip. I was not. My power source to operating my computer was disconnected. This is how life is. Without God as our power source, connection, We shut down.)

The Bible is filled with followers of God facing tests, trials, and tribulations.

  1. Abraham’s test of faith (Genesis 12)
  2. The Israelites wandering in the Wilderness for 40 years (Exodus)
  3. King David facing persecution
  4. Jesus Disciples faced many trials and persecution (Acts)
  5. The Apostle Paul suffered persecution

You too will face persecution as a Christian. 2 Timothy 3:12 “Indeed, all who desire to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will be persecuted.”

John 15:20, Jesus tells His disciples: “Remember the word that I said to you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you.”
