Psalm 14:1 (NKJV) — The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.
The fool found in the Bible is not a person of mental deficiency but one who is morally perverse.
The Apostle Paul writes in Romans 3:10-12, “As it is written: “There is none righteous, no, not one; There is none who understands; There is none who seeks after God. They have all turned aside; They have together become unprofitable; There is none who does good, no, not one.”
It is not that a person says there is no God but lives his life as if there is no God. The psalmist says, “There is none who does good.” Paul writes “there is none who is righteous.” Many profess Jesus as their Savior yet live their lives as if Jesus did not exist. John Wesley wrote, “Give me one hundred preachers who fear nothing but sin, and desire nothing but God, and I care not a straw whether they be clergymen or laymen; such alone will shake the gates of hell and set up the kingdom of heaven on Earth.” Today, in America, the “gates of hell are not being shaken.
Ignorance is not bliss. Being ignorant of God is living in the woes of a sinful world. Being ignorant of God leaves one empty and void of the true blessings God desires for us. God’s desire for us, and our belief in God is found in the words of Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; And what does the LORD require of you But to do justly, To love mercy, And to walk humbly with your God?”
The fool does not walk humbly with God…the fool does not walk with God at all. One may say with the mouth, “I believe in God”, but watch how a person lives their life. Our actions speak so much louder than our words.
