Jeremiah 29:11–14 (NKJV)
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the LORD, thoughts
of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to
you.
13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your
heart.
14 I will be found by you, says the LORD, and I will bring you back from your
captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where
I have driven you, says the LORD, and I will bring you to the place from which
I cause you to be carried away captive.
Knowing God. Knowing God’s will and purpose for your life. The greatest
calling and purpose in life is found in God.
We do not come to God half-heartedly. James 4:8 tells us to draw near to
God with clean hands and a pure heart. There is no duplicity in seeking God.
One cannot seek God and the world at the same time. When we seek God,
truly seek Him then “He will draw near to us.” Our hands must be cleansed,
and our hearts purified.
Maybe David’s greatest words to his son Solomon are found in 1 Chronicles
28:9, “As for you, my son Solomon, know the God of your father, and serve
Him with a loyal heart and with a willing mind; for the LORD searches all
hearts and understands all the intent of the thoughts. If you seek Him, He
will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will cast you off forever.”
Know God
Serve God with a loyal heart and a willing mind
Know this: “If you seek Him, He will be found by you.”
Maybe Jesus repeats this in Luke 11:9–10, “So I say to you, ask, and it will
be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
10 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who
knocks it will be opened.”
No power is found in the one who seeks his own will. Seek God’s will and
purpose for your life. God’s promise to us is “When we seek God, truly seek
Him we will find Him.”
