“For then I will restore to the peoples a pure language, That they all may call on the name of the Lord, To serve Him with one accord. From beyond the rivers of Ethiopia My worshipers, The daughter of My dispersed ones, Shall bring My offering.” (Zephaniah 3:9–10)

Has there been a time when the darkness was any greater in America than today? I am sure there has been. But, how great is the darkness? Spiritually, it seems it is so dark these new powerful flashlights cannot cut through it. That is the way it is in the dark ages of spirituality. The days of Zephaniah were dark, spiritually dark. But God’s promise was a light approaching to rip the darkness apart.

Christians do what Christians do. We worship God. Individually and collectively we worship God. Each day we awake our thoughts go to God. During the week, we meet together and worship God. Worship leads us to greater responsibility. We are to share the Word of God.

As we share God’s Word we see lives change. God changes people! Romans 10:14 says, “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?” We are the mouthpiece of God. Each day we journey into different parts of the world. We are the preachers. I ask, “Why should anyone listen to me?” The reality is we do not want people to listen to us. We want to be the voice of God; the one crying in the wilderness. We want to be the voice of a prophet; the spokesperson of God. We want to be God’s messenger. When we speak for God, people are not listening to us, but the voice of God Himself using us as His mouthpiece.

The darkness is great in America because the voice of darkness is extensive. The darkness is loud and boisterous. But we need to remember God’s call to His people is powerful. The call energizes. When we, as God’s people, stand and proclaim God’s Word, not just in the four walls of the church, but in the public square, then we will see the darkness of sin and Satan ripped apart. Just as Zephaniah proclaimed about the Gentiles calling upon the Lord and serving Him with one accord, we can see the same today.
