2 Timothy 3:1-9
But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come:
2 For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, 4 traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!
6 For of this sort are those who creep into households and make captives of gullible women loaded down with sins, led away by various lusts,
7 always learning and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth. (This is where we are today)
8 Now as Jannes and Jambres resisted Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, disapproved concerning the faith; 9 but they will progress no further, for their folly will be manifest to all, as theirs also was.
Are we living in the Last Days Paul warns about the moral decline and challenges of the “last days,” describing people as self-centered, greedy, arrogant, and lacking self-control.
Paul advises Timothy to be cautious of individuals and teachers who may misrepresent the truth. He suggests avoiding teachings where the Word of God is not being accurately taught or preached. Paul underscores the significance of adhering to Scripture, which is “God-breathed” and valuable for teaching, correcting, and preparing believers for good works.
Read and reread this passage of Scripture. How many walk into a church service and walk out no better than they entered? How many have a misunderstanding of what true worship is? We cannot worship God and live for the Devil. It aligns with the teaching in Matthew 6:24 which says, “No one can serve two masters… You cannot serve both God and the things of this world.” This verse emphasizes the impossibility of divided loyalty, whether it’s between God and materialism, or God and sin.
Living for God requires wholehearted devotion, while living for the Devil is living a life of rebellion against God’s will. The two paths are fundamentally incompatible!
