Daily Devotion (April 19, 2025)

“Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.”
Psalm 51:10

Spiritual renewal is a process of reconnecting with God and allowing His transformative power to refresh your soul. The Bible offers many verses that inspire this journey:

Spiritual renewal involves trusting in God, embracing His grace, and allowing Him to guide us toward a renewed sense of purpose and strength.

We must commit ourselves to God and “not conform to the way of this world.” (Romans 12:2)

Isaiah 40:31: “But those who wait (hope) in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary; they will walk and not be faint.” Ever since sitting in Dr. Page Kelley’s Old Testament Class at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary this verse has meant a lot to me. This verse reminds us that those who place their trust in the Lord will find renewed strength, enabling them to rise above challenges like eagles soaring in the sky.

Corinthians 4:16: “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.”

Spiritual renewal involves trusting in God, embracing His grace, and allowing Him to guide us toward a renewed sense of purpose and strength.

I wonder what Saturday was like for the followers of Christ. Profound grief, fear and uncertainty of what was to come. The world seemed silent, and hope appeared lost. I think it is called “Silent Saturday.” Many, as we will do today at our church, will have an Easter Egg hunt. Many will give no thought to what took place the day before. Take a moment to pause and reflect on the journey that began on Palm Sunday, as Jesus entered Jerusalem in triumph, and continued through the solemn events leading to His crucifixion on Good Friday. As we reflect on these profound days, let us also turn our hearts toward the hope and victory of Christ’s resurrection on Easter Sunday, celebrating the fulfillment of His promise of eternal life.
