John 1:10-13
10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, but the world didn’t know Him.
11 He came to His own people, but they didn’t accept Him.
12 But to anyone who did accept Him and believed in Him, He gave the right to be children of God.
13 These people were not born as God’s children because of human choices but because of God.
Many people have turned away from Christ throughout history. John tells us that Jesus came to His own people, but they didn’t accept Him. From the very beginning, in stories from Genesis to Malachi, we see how people rejected God. Even now, people might say they follow God, but often they worship ideas or things they’ve made up instead of the true God from the Bible.
There are many patterns in the world that don’t follow what the Bible teaches. These include things like focusing too much on money and possessions, being selfish, chasing after fun and pleasure, or putting success before growing in faith. As John tells us, Jesus came into the world, but many didn’t know Him. Why? Because Satan, who the Bible calls “the father of lies,” tricks people.
In Genesis 3, Satan tricked Eve by twisting God’s words. In John 8:44, Jesus says Satan is a liar. And in 2 Corinthians 11:14, Paul warns that Satan pretends to be like an angel of light, making his lies look good.
So, what about you? Have you let God into your life? Do you know Him? Are you part of His family as a child of God?
Being part of a church is important. We don’t worship the church, but it plays a big role in our lives. The church is a place to learn about God, worship together, and encourage each other. It’s also where we can get support and grow in our faith.
The church often helps the community by showing love, offering hope, and helping those in need. Many find belonging and purpose in the church.
How do you think the church could make a difference in your life or your community?
