Exodus 20:12 (NKJV) — 12 “Honor your father and your mother, that your
days may be long upon the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
I learned at an early age my parents were in charge of our household. I did
not rule the roost. My father and my mother were not my best friends, nor
my friends at all, they were my parents and were given charge over my
upbringing. I knew they loved me. They provided me with everything I
needed to be successful in life.
I learned authority under their tutelage. Their word was the final word. I
made a mistake once in a while and spoke back to my parents…the results of
doing so are still felt on the rear end of my body. I was not taught to say, sir
or ma’am. My mother was a good Georgia southern lady, and my father was
from northern Ohio. He said to his children he was not a king and we did not
have to say “sir” to him. But, there was respect at least on my part.
Authority is important. When authority is not respected there is chaos. If
authority is not respected and enforced in the home then it will not be
respected in the world. When the home and the family are destroyed then
the nation is destroyed.
Just to reemphasize God created three great institutions: the family; the
church; and the government. When the family is destroyed, we see the
church destroyed, and the government fails.
God values relationships and holds them sacred. God is the Creator of the
home. He knows if He is not respected in the home He will not be respected
in the world.
One very important point I would make to all parents…IT IS NOT THE
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE GOVERNMENT TO RAISE YOUR CHILDREN. THIS
INCLUDES THE SCHOOLS WHETHER GOVERNMENT-RUN SCHOOLS OR
PAROCHIAL (CHRISTIAN) SCHOOLS. Parents have a responsibility to know
what their children are being taught and exposed to.
The days of the United States of America are quickly coming to an end. It
did not just happen. Nikita Khrushchev was an evil prophet but very
accurate. In 1959 he stated, “We will take America without firing a shot …
we will bury you! “We can’t expect the American people to jump from
capitalism to communism, but we can assist their elected leaders in giving
them small doses of socialism until they awaken one day to find that they
have communism. We do not have to invade the United States, we will
destroy you from within.”
Destroy the family and you will see the church fall and then the nation. The
fifth commandment is not long…but how important it is!
