2 Timothy 1:7 (NKJV) “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.”
I reference once again a song I have come to love…Well, not so much the song but this refrain from the song, “I don’t know about tomorrow”. “Many things about tomorrow, I don’t seem to understand; But I know who holds tomorrow, And I know who holds my hand.”
Satan’s goal is to destroy all the hope and joy found in our relationship with Christ. Paul writes in Romans 8:9–10 “9 But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. 10 And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.”
We cannot allow the influence of Satan to destroy what God has given us in Christ. He will do everything he can to take away our joy and influence found in Christ. Christians have something the world does not have; Christ living in them. 1 John 4:16 “And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him.”
Christians live with the hope of knowing God is in them.
Romans 15:13 “Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
Romans 5:5 “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.”
Isaiah 43:18–19 “Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. 19 Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” We cannot change yesterday and have no control over tomorrow. God is working in our lives today. Live for Jesus now.
Paul writes in 2 Corinthians 5:17, “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Each moment in our lives we go through a cleansing process. Christ is continually transforming our lives.
Philippians 3:13–14 “Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, 14 I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Do not try and change yesterday. Learn from it. Let God work in you today. We are not promised tomorrow. What we do today will have a great influence on the lives of others which we may never see.
