Ephesians 2:8
“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God.”
1 Corinthians 6:19
“Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?”
Ephesians 2:10
“For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand that we should walk in them.”
Psalm 14:1
“The fool has said in his heart, “There is no God.” They are corrupt, They have done abominable works, There is none who does good.”
God! Does He exist in your life? Is He real? The Psalmist makes a very profound statement that many Christians would say they have accepted, yet they live their lives as if God does not exist. We do not want anyone controlling our lives. We know what is best for us…and others. We, the clay, of Jeremiah 18 are being formed by God, are not really formed by Him in most peoples lives. They want to be what they want to be.
Billy Joel’s song says it all about many “Christians” attitude towards God.
I don’t need you to worry for me ’cause I’m alright
I don’t want you to tell me it’s time to come home
I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life
Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone
We are the clay. We belong to God. Our lives really do not belong to us. Yet, God gives each of us the opportunity to accept Him or reject Him. The world is in great duress because it has rejected God. Many professing Christians live a life of misery because they have never accepted Christ in their lives. An intellectual acceptance is not what God wants. God wants to take our lives and transform us into what He wants us to be. There must be a spiritual transformation. (I know this is difficult for many because they see themselves as free to live their lives the way they want.)
Our lives belong to God! He has the right to make us into what He wants us to be. The only true peace and happiness we will ever have is when we let go and let God rule and REIGN in our lives. God is and we are because we have either accepted Him or rejected Him. We are a blessing or a curse to the world based on the choice we make about God. We either allow Him to form us into what He chooses us to be, or we follow Satan.
Do we live out the Billy Joel song, “I don’t care what you say anymore, this is my life Go ahead with your own life, leave me alone.” Do YOU tell God to leave you alone? We know those who have not accepted Christ do. But, what about the professing Christian?
