Matthew 28:19–20 (NKJV)
19Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit,
20teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

Accepting Jesus is our savior is just the beginning of our salvation. We are to then disciple the new believer to learn and observe all things about Christ.

Churches must have a program of Discipleship! Each individual Christian must have a plan of spiritual growth. Jesus gives each Christian a command. It is not just that we are to go, but as we are going, we are to make disciples. We do not need to make a list of who we will go to, even though it is not a bad idea to have the list. As we go through the day, we are to be witnesses to the world. We are to be in the process of “making disciples.”

If we are to follow Jesus’ example, then as we are going into the world, we are to be making disciples. We are an extension of Christ.

Christians have been commissioned to teach all things that Christ commanded. Teaching believers is essential to Christian growth. The church is to teach the truth of God’s Word. Jesus said in John 8:31-32, “Then Jesus said to those Jews who believed Him, “If you abide in My word, you are My disciples indeed. And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”
