Romans 1:26–27 (NKJV) — 26 For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. 27 Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due.

Instead of worrying about putting God back into the schools, we should look to put God back into the church!

It is amazing how many come to a worship service, I use the term lightly, and do anything but worship God. I say lightly because many do not know what “worship” true worship is.

John Piper wrote, “True worship is a valuing or a treasuring of God above all things.” Jesus said in Matthew 15:8–9, “These people draw near to Me with their mouth, And honor Me with their lips, But their heart is far from Me. And in vain they worship Me, Teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.”

There is a false sense or understanding of worship in the church. People come to be filled with the presence of God and leave empty. They come to be changed but go back into the world doing the same things they did before. Real worship is described in Romans 12:1-2, “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

Real worship is transformational. You cannot worship God and be unchanged. Jesus said to the woman in John 4:24– “God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.” If you leave a “worship” service unchanged do not blame it on the preacher, the music, or anything else. Worship has to do with a person’s attitude toward God.

Back to my original point. The United States of America is a fallen nation. But, do not blame the lost! Look at the church. If you profess to be saved, look at yourself. How closely are you walking with God! Do you see personal time spent with God as a waste of time? Do you prepare your heart each day to be in fellowship with God? Do you separate your spiritual life from your social life? If you do you should be ashamed for doing so.

The problem in America today is not a president, a congress, or a judicial system. The problem is not found in social media or worldly entertainment. The problem lies with the church! If you profess to be a Christian, then look at your life. Has your “Christian life” been lived in such a way it draws people to God or have you allowed the world to draw you away from God? When is the last time you went to church and truly worshiped God? When have you left a worship service a changed person? Again, do not blame the service…the music or the preacher. Look deep inside yourself.

Philippians 2:5– “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus.”
