1 Jn 1:5–10.
5 This is the message which we have heard from Him and declare to you, that God is light and in Him is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have fellowship with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practice the truth. 7 But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. 9 If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. 10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.
Our lifestyle as a Christian must proclaim the message of the Gospel. We cannot live our lives as the world does. The believer in Christ lives in relationship with God. The believer in Christ is now a part of the Family of God. The follower of Christ lives her life to not only please God but to allow the love of Christ to be seen by others.
The Bible does not hide what sin is. The Ten Commandments is very explicit in what sin is (Exodus 20:1-17).
In the New Testament Paul lists the works of the flesh (or sin) in Galatians 5:19-21 “Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries, and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.”
Colossians 3:5-9: “Therefore put to death your members which are on the earth: fornication, uncleanness, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry. Because of these things the wrath of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience, in which you yourselves once walked when you lived in them. But now you yourselves are to put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth. Do not lie to one another, since you have put off the old man with his deeds.”
How should a Christian live? Galatians 5:22-23 (NKJV): “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.”
Romans 12:9-21
Verse 9: “Let love be without hypocrisy. Hate what is evil. Cling to what is good.”
Verse 10: “Be kindly affectionate to one another with brotherly love, in honor giving preference to one another;”
Verse 12: “Rejoicing in hope, patient in tribulation, continuing steadfastly in prayer;”
Verse 18: “If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men.”
Verse 21: “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.”
