Daily Devotion (December 18, 2024)
Romans 10:9 (NIV): “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.”
Why is it that so many professing Christians go to Hell? The answer is simple…they have confessed with their mouth but never really believed in their heart.
Being saved is more than having a conviction about Jesus. It is more than knowing about Jesus. It is faith that changes and influences your life and how you live. There is a transformation in a person’s inner being. It is a faith that changes who you are at the very core of your being.
The faith that saves is a sincere faith. It is more than heartfelt faith. It is trust in God and His promises. There is an inner conviction that not only changes our though process it shapes our attitude and decisions and our actions. Believing in your heart influences how you live your life.
Emotions are important. Some people are more emotional than others. Accepting Christ as the Lord and Savior of your life is an emotional experience but more than emotional it is also a SPIRITUAL COMMITMENT.
Believing in your heart is believing in the resurrection of Jesus and acknowledging Him as THE LORD of your life.
Jesus said in Matthew 7:21-23, “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!'”
Those who have honestly and truly accepted Christ into their lives practice true obedience to Him. They have a real relationship with God. The relationship is more than lip service.
The church in America is weak and defeated. Many go to a Sunday morning worship service and sing praise to God with their mouth but in their heart they are focused on the ways of the world and their true god…Satan.
