Daily Devotion (December 23, 2024)

Hebrews 11:1-3

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. 2 For by it the elders obtained a good testimony.
3 By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.

Faith is believing God. I cannot see God. Hebrews 1:1-3 are verses people have relied on for years. Faith is not blind, it involves trust, understanding, and evidence that goes beyond mere physical proof. Personal experience often proves our faith. We can read in the Bible and believe what the Bible says to us from a historical account of how God has worked throughout the centuries. Faith is believing what God has done in the past is evidence God can do in the now.

Trust in relationship with God is built stronger over time. God works in our lives and is strengthened through personal experiences and is evidenced through our lives.

“My life serves as proof of God’s existence to others. Just as God worked through Moses, Caleb, Aaron, Joseph, and many others in the Bible, making their lives testimonies of His presence among ordinary people, our lives today also stand as living evidence of God’s existence and work.”

Do I truly have faith in God? Do I trust God is in control? When everything is going great it is easy to trust God. David wrote in Psalm 23:4 “Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.” Believing God, trusting God is not proved out in a worship service singing praise songs. It is proved out in everyday life when everything is going wrong, and we are being stomped on by Satan.

Faith involves a deep trust and certainty in the promises of God. We may not be able to see them but the inner conviction that what God has promised will come to pass. Faith provides a firm foundation for our hope.
