“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3
God does not necessarily take us out of painful, troubling times. Jeremiah was a great example of this. Jeremiah was imprisoned by King Zedekiah because of his prophecies about the impending Babylonian siege and destruction of Jerusalem.
God gives us a message of hope. There is a personal invitation to Jeremiah to reach out to Him in prayer. The instruction to us from God is not should we spend time with Him, but we must spend time with God. God does speak to His people. As a follower of God we have accepted Christ into our lives. God lives in us.
When we accepted Christ as our Savior, we also accepted Him as our Lord. God has authority over our lives. We submit to His will and seek to follow His teaching and commands. Paul writes in Romans 10:9, “If you declare with your mouth, ‘Jesus is Lord,’ AND believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. Jesus is the Lord of those who have truly accepted Him Savior.
We also accept Christ as our Shepherd. He guides and protects us. We rely on Him for our spiritual nourishment and direction. For over fifty years my wife has reminded me that she “knows me like a book”. Jesus has written the book of our lives. In Jeremiah 29:11 God says, “For I know the plans I have for you,” …”plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
Jesus is our teacher: Matthew 23:8
Jesus is our friend: John 15:15
Jesus is our King: Revelation 19:16
Jesus is our Advocate: 1 John 2:1
Jesus is our Healer: Isaiah 53:5
Jesus is our Savior: Titus:3:5 “ “He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit.”
Are you calling upon God? It is more than us just speaking to Him, it is listening to what He has to say to us! God embraces us and transforms our lives to be what He has created us to be
