“This is the day the Lord has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” –Psalm 118:24
“Welcome every morning with a smile. Look on the new day as another special gift from your Creator, another golden opportunity to complete what you were unable to finish yesterday. Be a self-starter. Let your first hour set the theme of success and positive action that is certain to echo through your entire day. Today will never happen again. Don’t waste it with a false start or no start at all. You were not born to fail.” –Og Mandino
I love reading the writings of Og Mandino, especially knowing his background. I also realize it is not always easy to rejoice. We are surrounded by so much evil in this world. And unfortunately, there is much information reminding us of evil. Sunday there was another shooting in a church in Texas.
We are to give thanks to God and rejoice in Him because He is good. His goodness is seen in His mercy which endures forever. His divine mercy is seen in times of distress destroying our enemies and helping us in our salvation found in Him. Our salvation is maybe the greatest proof of God’s goodness. We do not deserve God…but God:
Romans 5:8 “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
1 Corinthians 2:10 “But God has revealed them to us through His Spirit. For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.”
Ephesians 2:1-7 (NKJV)
1 Corinthians 10:13 “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able.”
Galatians 1:15-16 “You also heard how I was far ahead of other Jews in my age group in following the Jewish religion. I had become that fanatical for the traditions of my ancestors. But God, who appointed me before I was born and who called me by his kindness, was pleased to show me his Son.”
