1 Peter 2:1-3
“Therefore, laying aside all malice, all deceit, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious.”
What is the negative anti-biblical behavior that is dwelling in your life? It is of vital importance we get rid of any attitude that goes contrary to the Word of God. Peter writes and emphasizes the importance of abandoning negative behaviors and attitudes.
What is your attitude? Looking up the attitude of Jesus I found eight of them. (By the way I define attitude as the way we think.)
- Jesus exemplified Humility (Philippians 2:5)
- Jesus showed deep compassion for others. (Matthew 9:36)
- Obedience, Jesus was obedient to God’s will (Matthew 26:39)
- Forgiveness: Jesus taught and practiced and taught forgiveness (Luke 23:34)
- Jesus Loved. (John 13:34-35; John 3:16)
- Jesus demonstrated Faith. (John 11:41-42)
- Righteousness: Jesus lived a sinless life. He was always looking to do what was right and just according to God’s standards. (1 Peter 2:22)
- Patience: Jesus was patient with His disciples, the crowds, and even those who opposed Him. (2 Peter 3:9)
We need to ask what am I holding on to that is not a part of the attitude of Jesus. Philippians 2:5: “Let this mind be in you that was also in Christ Jesus.”
Jesus spent over 3 years with the Apostles teaching them and they still lacked in understanding the Mission of Jesus. We may not understand His calling in our lives. Faith and trust in Jesus are a growing process the same as it was for his Apostles. We are not born into the Kingdom of God knowing everything. It is truly a growing process. Not all followers, believers in Christ grow at the same rate. But we do mature. We grow in our faith as we allow God to feed us His Word and spend time with other followers of Christ. But we must make a true commitment to Christ. The Christian faith is not a half-hearted venture. You give your whole self to God. It is not just a commitment to Christ; it is a courageous wholehearted commitment to Him. Following Jeus takes Fatih Trust, Prayer, Worship, Obedience, Commitment, Love, Compassion, Service, Sacrifice, and Spiritual Growth.
