John 4:11–14 (NKJV)
11 The woman said to Him, “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? 12 Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, 14 but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”
Living water. Any water that just sits stagnates. Jesus is the living water. The way of the world is stagnating water. The way of the world never satisfies. The way of the world does not fill the purpose or meaning of life. There is no satisfaction or fulfillment in the way of the world. There is always something missing in the way of the world. The is a void in a person’s life who lives in the way of the world.
It is only Jesus who can fill that spiritual void, the emptiness of life. Many fill the emptiness of life and do not recognize the only way to fill it is with Jesus. They listen to the prophets of Satan and continue to fill their lives with the ways of the world. It is like filling your gas tank with gas mixed with water and expecting the car to run. It just does not happen.
In John 14:6 Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” It is Jesus and Jesus only that can bring satisfaction to a person’s life. It is not Jesus plus anything else. It is Jesus Only. Jesus told the woman at the well, “whoever drinks of the water That I shall give him will never thirst.”
Drink the water Jesus gives and know not only do you have the fountain of living water springing up in you but you have eternal life.
Thank you, Jesus, for being the fountain of living water.
