Ecclesiastes 4:9–10
Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up.”
Proverbs 27:17
“As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend.”
I learned long ago “IT IS NOT ALL ABOUT ME.” One of the lessons taught was to take my hand make a fist and put it into a jar of water. I would place my hand in the jar of water then pull my hand out and notice the void was filled by the water that was in the jar. The point is all organizations are made up of many people. Each person has a role to play in the organization. Some may be more visible than others. Some are less visible. But each is important. We learn we are not lone rangers. If an organization is going to succeed and grow, then all need to fulfill their role. One person cannot do everything. Success, like in the jar of water, comes when others are willing to do whatever it takes for the organization to grow. It takes commitment. It is up to each member of the organization to encourage each other, not condemn. It is up to us to help others to succeed. I like Zig Ziglar’s illustration of success. He says in his book “See You at the Top” that a successful person helps others up the ladder of success.” (It could have been Paul Harvey who said this.)
Battle scars can be good or bad. It depends on how we obtained them.
Helping others can at times bring the scars, but we do not allow the scars to
stop us. We continue on. Look at the life of the Apostle Paul or the other
followers of Christ in the Bible. They lived in difficult times. More importantly,
look at Jesus. His physical life ended on a cross. His followers deserted Him.
If an organization is going to
succeed and grow, then all need to fulfill their role. One person cannot do it all. None of us are “Lone Rangers” and yet how often do we feel left out, alone, or maybe we feel we bear the burden of the organization upon us standing alone.
In God’s Kingdom we never stand alone.
