John 10:9–10 (NKJV)
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture. 10 The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.
I think often about “Ben Casey”. You may not know Ben Casey. It was a TV series that came on from 1961 to 1967. Two things I remember about the program was Dr. Zorba’s hair and the opening title “Man, woman, birth, death, infinity.” These words have for some reason stayed with me. Birth, death, and infinity.
Some one once said we are born to die. Not many people have been born who left this world alive. Can you name those in the Bible who did? There is a choice we get to make. We can live our lives for the world, or we can live life for God. We can live life in mediocrity, or we can have the abundant life God intended for us. Jesus is the way to fulness of life. Satan is the thief that has come to steal life away from us. We find freedom in Jesus. We are imprisoned by Satan.
The greatest benefit to the sheep is that the shepherd dies in their place. Jesus says in Matthew 20:28 “just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.” We have a Savior who laid His life down for us. We have been saved from the great deceiver, Satan. Maybe between birth and death there should be a hyphen. What do we do between birth and death. We should, must, accept Christ, allow the Savior to save us from the wolf, Satan.
Life goes on. One may be the most prosperous person, or most intellectual person, most glamorous person but none of these matter in the end. What does matter is what we do with Jesus. We either accept Him or we reject Him. Do not allow Satan to steal your life. Come to Jesus now! The infinity never ends and in the end the decision we make for Christ determines where we spend the infinity: Heaven or Hell!
