2 Timothy 2:15 (NKJV)
15 Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Live your life in such a way that when others find out you are a Christian, they will be ready to hear your testimony of Christ salvation in your life.
Paul writes to Timothy to be diligent. Some words to help define diligent are: industrious, assiduous, conscientious, meticulous, painstaking, rigorous, exacting, careful, thorough. (I love the Thesaurus. The first time I heard that word I looked for dinosaurs.) We as Christians must be diligent in living the Christian life. We must live our lives as Christians so when others find out we are Christians they are not shocked!
We should never bring shame to the name of Christ. We ae to be zealous in living our lives for Christ. In whatever we are doing whether in church, work, school, play, or just being we are to live our lives for Christ. Our lives should never bring shame to the name of Christ. The word hypocrite should never be associated with our profession of faith.
We are not to just hear the Word of Christ preached or taught we are to absorb His word in our lives. We are to be diligent in studying God’s Word. We should be so filled with the Word of God that it just oozes out of our lives.
We may be the only Bible others see. We are the witnesses to the living Word of God. The fourth verse of “Living for Jesus” says,
Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
And of course, we cannot forget the chorus:
O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy redemption, Didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master, My heart shall be Thy throne,
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.
