Psalm 27:14 Wait on the Lord; Be of good courage, And He shall strengthen your heart; Wait, I say, on the Lord!

David, the King of Israel had a single-minded desire. David wanted to know God. He wanted to have a personal, intimate relationship with God. He wanted God to live in his life.

For many, their relationship with God can feel one-sided. Truly knowing God means cultivating an intimate relationship with Him. Those who earnestly seek Him are blessed. As Jesus says in Matthew 6:33, ‘But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.'”

David had a single-minded desire. He wanted to behold the beauty of the Lord. David was confident that God hears and answers our prayers. David knew from personal experience. David has one main point in this Psalm, “Wait, I say, on the Lord!” As we wait on Him we will commune with Him and grow to trust Him.

Waiting is not easy. It is an active faith-filled process. It involves trust, prayer, and preparation. I go back to Isaiah 40:31, “But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.” The word “wait” can also be translated “hope.” There is an eager expectation of God working in our lives. It is a hope that is intertwined with God’s will and purpose working in our lives.
