Daily Devotion (January 19, 2025)

Ephesians 1:22-23
And He put all things under His feet and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.

The Church, the Body of Christ. Jesus is the supreme authority over the church. There is an intimate and living connection between Christ and believers.

Paul reminds us that the church is filled with the presence and power of God Himself. The church is empowered by HIS presence. The church has no power outside of Christ Himself. The church derives its influence from its foundational beliefs and aims to fulfill its mission and goals.

The members of the church share a close, intimate relationship with each other. There is fellowship found in prayer, teaching, and building one another up in love.

What is found in the church?

  • God’s unconditional love
  • Fellowship supporting one another in the compassionate love of Christ.
  • Carrying each other’s burdens, and in this way, you will fulfill the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)
  • Building each other up. Encouraging and edifying one another. (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

Above all else the love and fellowship of Christ is found in the church. Christians reflect the love of Christ and support and nurture other believers in Christ.

Not all churches are the same. What must be common is the presence of God found in each believer. Church worship is all about Jesus. In the worship of Christ, we are to exalt Him. We are empowered through worship to go into the world and share His love through allowing Him to be seen in us.
