1 John 3:1–3 (NKJV)
3 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him. 2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3 And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.
The privilege of being called the child of God! We are privileged to be a part of the family of God.
The song’s chorus says, “I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God, I’ve been washed in the fountain, cleansed by the His blood. Joint heirs with Jesus as we travel this sod, For I’m part of the family, the family of God.
Before we accepted Christ into our lives, we were an orphan. But now as the second verse of, “Family of God” states, “From the door of an orphanage to the house of the King-No longer an outcast, a new song I sing; From rags unto riches, from the weak to the strong, I’m not worthy to be here, But, praise God, I belong!
We do not deserve God’s love. We were part of a world that hated God! We rebelled against God. But God in His infinite love has accepted us into His family. It is the love of God that has granted us the privilege of adoption. We are not a child of God because of how great we are. We are not a part of the family of God because of our goodness. Before God accepted us into His family we were wretched sinner deserving eternity separated from God’s eternal love. But God, in His infinite love has saved us from an eternity in Hell separated from Him.
What expletive can be used to describe the love of God. The only word that comes to mind right now is WOW!!! I cannot fathom this love. Jesus went to the cross to save me, this wretched lost sinner from an eternal Hell. He gave His life for me! Now I can sing, “I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God!”
Romans 5:6–8 “For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. 7 For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. 8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Jesus gave His all for me! He died for me. He brought me into His family. Now I can sing…” I’m so glad I’m a part of the family of God! You too can sing this song if you have accepted God’s love into your life.
