Philippians 1:19–21 (NKJV)
19 For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.

For those who have accepted Christ into their lives we know our lives are not lived in a wonderful utopian world. We live in a fallen world. Satan possesses the lives of so many around us. When Paul wrote this letter, he was in a Roman prison chained to Roman guards. Yet he knew no matter what his circumstances he was to preach Christ.

Because Paul knew who he was and his calling from God many would hear the Word of Christ preached. Not all the preaching was with words. Paul’s actions and attitude spoke loudly. Paul was an encouragement to those who witnessed his life in person and from afar.

Paul knew what his calling was. He knew what God prepared him to do. Paul remembered the past but did not live in it. His calling was to live out God’s purpose. This is why Paul wrote to the Romans in Romans 8:28 “And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.” His life was not just made up by words, but by words backed up by action.

Many call themselves Christian. They focus on a life that is behind them. They can tell others when they accepted Christ in their lives but cannot tell others what Christ has done in their lives this past week. No matter the circumstances of Christ, he preached the message of Christ. In word and action Christ was preached.

We are to preach the Word of Christ each day, each moment of the day. We are to let others see Jesus living in us.
