Daily Devotion (January 27, 2025)

Genesis 3:16:”To the woman he said, ‘I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you.'”

John 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.”

1 Corinthians 3:16 “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit dwells in your midst?”

Colossians 3:16:”Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts.”

3:16 Bible verses are running around in my head this morning.

The first verse is judgment. Sin has its consequences. Thankfully God is a God of love and compassion.

John 3:16 is a profound declaration of God’s love for His creation. God’s love is not limited. Jesus died for the sins of all humanity. Genesis tells us God does not condone sin. There is a price to be paid for sin. Jesus came into the world and interceded for us. 2 Corinthians 5:21 tells us “God made him who had no sin (Jesus) to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

WE should be deeply moved by God’s love. God could have just wiped us away and started over. He did not. For those who choose to reject God need to remember Hell is for eternity. Jesus death on the cross saves us from eternal torment.

Christ death goes further than just being saved from eternal separation from God. When we accept Christ, we have God’s Spirit living in us. God will never leave us no forsake us. Hebrews 13:5 tells us: “Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.'”

Remember John 3:16! God’s love is overwhelming. It is beyond comprehension. Those who accept it should be staggered by the enormous love of God. What greater motivation can there be than to know Christ willingly went to the Cross for us so we can have eternal life with Him not just after death but the moment we accept Christ into our lives. What greater love is there?!
