He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.” Jn 3:18–21.
To believe! Believe in the Bible is more than simply acknowledging something as true. It means having trust and faith in. There is only one who we can put faith and trust in for not only salvation but in living life to the fullest.
To believe in Jesus is to place our trust in Him and God’s promises. We go back to Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.” Jesus says in John 1:18, “No one has ever seen God, but the one and only Son, who is himself God and is in closest relationship with the Father…” We place our trust and hope in Jesus.
To believe is more than saying I have faith, or I trust in God. To believe is to make a commitment and be obedient to God. True belief is found in our actions. James 2:17 emphasizes this by saying, “Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action is dead.” Belief means entering into a personal relationship with God. It is marked by love, prayer, and worship.
Biblical belief is a deep, active trust in God. It is demonstrated through faith, commitment, and a personal relationship with Him. It influences our actions and shapes our life.
Christianity is not a passive religion. Christianity encourages an active and dynamic faith. It is not just about intellectual acknowledgment about God it is a living faith. It is about serving God and others. Christianity is about community. Christianity is about evangelism. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19-20 “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” We are to go, but also, as we are going about our everyday life, we are to be making disciples.
If we truly believe in Jesus, we will be sharing His love with everyone we meet.
