1 Peter 2:4–6 (NKJV) — 4 Coming to Him as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen by God and precious, 5 you also, as living stones, are being built up a spiritual house, a holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ. 6 Therefore it is also contained in the Scripture, “Behold, I lay in Zion A chief cornerstone, elect, precious, And he who believes on Him will by no means be put to shame.”
A very simple message. As a Christian remember who you are and to whom you belong.
A follower of Christ is building his life on the foundation of Christ Himself, the Chief Cornerstone.
Expect to be rejected by the world. If Christ was rejected, believers will be rejected. The believer’s life is being built upon the foundation of Christ. Each believer is important to the building.
The building is not wanted by the world. What God is building does not fit into the plan of the world. For those who’s life if not built on the foundation of Christ, the cost of building on His foundation is not worth the price.
Building on the foundation of Christ means giving up the things of the world controlled by Satan. Satan offers a false sense of security and happiness, that is built upon sinking sand. Jesus said in Matthew 7:26–27, “But everyone who hears these sayings of Mine, and does not do them, will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand: 27 and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house; and it fell. And great was its fall.”
What foundation are you building your life upon? The Solid Rock of Jesus or the House on the Sinking Sand?
