1 Peter 2:9–11 (NKJV)
9 But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
10 who once were not a people but are now the people of God, who had not obtained mercy but now have obtained mercy.
11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul,
Christians are chosen people. We walk through this world on our way to God’s promised land with a purpose. Christians are not permanent residents of this world.
Christians obey the law of the land but realize there is a greater law they obey. The follower of Christ does not live by the standards and laws of the world. As one person wrote, the laws of the world are far lower than the laws of God. Because the Christians standards of obedience are higher than the world, he goes beyond obedience in following the laws of the land.
I watch the news. Those who are followers of Satan are destructive. They have no care for the laws of the land. Their violence follows the way of their father Satan. Christians may protest but they do so in a way that brings glory and honor to God.
The believer in Christ dedication is to God and is loyal to His Word. I still remember the words of one father to his sons, “Remember your name.” Allow your words and actions to point people to Christ.
Life is not all about you, it is all about Christ.
