John 14:6 (NKJV) — 6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

The word “truth” is found in at least 136 verses in the Bible. Merriam-Webster defines truth as “the state of being the case: fact. A transcendent fundamental or spiritual reality.”

Jesus defines truth as Himself. He is “THE TRUTH.” Pilate asks Jesus in John 18:38,  “What is truth?”

We have discovered in America the truth is suppressed. People would rather believe a lie than the truth. Rejection of the truth imprisons. It is only in acceptance of God’s truth that people are set free. John 8:32: “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.”

The Truth of God sets people apart. Jesus prayed to the Father in John 17:17, “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” When a person comes to God in salvation he is set apart unto God and apart from the world. When we enter God’s salvation we are sanctified through His truth. Instead of conforming ourselves to the world we are taught to conform ourselves to the image of Christ. The only way this can happen is through the truth of God. We are to learn, study, and conform ourselves to God’s Word. Paul writes to Timothy, “Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

When we come to Christ in salvation we are set apart unto Christ. There is also a growing sanctification. We are to continue to grow in God’s truth. Daily we are bombarded with the lies of Satan. We must live in the cleansing Word of God. We live in the world. We are surrounded by the evil of Satan. We need the cleansing of God’s Word daily in our lives.

Jesus prayed in John 17:11, 14-15, “11 Now I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to You. Holy Father, keep through Your name those whom You have given Me, that they may be one as We are… 14 I have given them Your word; and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world. 15 I do not pray that You should take them out of the world, but that You should keep them from the evil one.

We must live in the truth of God.
