1 John 1:1–3 (NKJV) — 1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of life—

2 the life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested to us—

3 that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ.

The desire of the Apostle John was to share his faith in Jesus with others. If we have true fellowship with the Father and His Son, Jesus Christ we want others to know Him.

Christian faith is Exhilarating. To know that we can know the King of kings and Lord of lords intimately is the impossible dream made real. To walk with Christ, to talk with Christ, to fellowship with Christ is the great utopian experience for Christians. God has made this possible.

Christ will never be understood by just glancing at Him. He must become a living part of our lives. A casual worship service where we are feeding our emotional needs is not enough. Jesus came into this world, died on the cross, and was resurrected so we could have true fellowship with God. True fellowship with God is not an external relationship with God but one where God, through the power of the Holy Spirit, lives in us.

Knowing Christ changes everything. Knowing Christ is a real spiritual experience where one has emptied himself of everything that is not of God and filled himself with the presence of God.

Jesus said, in Matthew 7:21–23,“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’

A true relationship with God is an intimate relationship. It is personal and at the same time shared with others. The closer we move to God the more we share Him with others.
