Colossians 1:3–6 (NKJV)
3 We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,
4 since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints;
5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel,
6 which has come to you, as it has also in all the world, and is bringing forth fruit, as it is also among you since the day you heard and knew the grace of God in truth.
Simple devotion this morning. Give thanks for fellow believers in Jesus. When God brings a name to your mind during the day give thanks to God for this follower of Jesus. It has never been easy to live for Jesus in a fallen world. Today is much more difficult in America. We must remember what we see as persecution is nothing compared to the persecution many believers in other parts of the world are enduring. But if we have not suffered for living the faith any persecution is difficult. It will get worse!
Christians have hope! John writes in 1 John 3:23 “And this is His commandment: that we should believe on the name of His Son Jesus Christ and love one another, as He gave us commandment.” Our hope is founded in one person, Jesus Christ.
Satan is seeking to destroy Christians. There are times others need to see the hope in our lives. Our faith in Jesus is the pillar we build our lives upon. There is no other hope.
What is your hope built upon?
Are you allowing your hope in Jesus to be seen by others?
These are random thoughts of a crazy preacher this morning.
