Ephesians 6:12 (NKJV) — 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.
It is out there. We do not see it. We can see the effects of it. We can feel it. We know it is there and try to ignore it. We can’t ignore evil, it is universal.
It cannot and must not be ignored. In the flesh, we cannot win the “good and evil battle.” The battle is spiritual. Daily, it is played out in the flesh. Our battle is not against flesh and blood. Our enemy is not human…he is spiritual. The spiritual forces possess unbelievable power. The Christian’s battle is not against other people, it is against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness.
The forces of evil are powerful, they are numerous, they are organized, they are the rulers of darkness in this world. Darkness can be compared to spiritual ignorance of truth and reality. The Evil force is Satan himself. He wants not only the lost but Christians to remain in spiritual ignorance. Read C. S. Lewis’s book, “The Screwtape Letters.”
In 2 Corinthians 4:16–18 Paul tells us do not to give up! ”6 Therefore we do not lose heart. Even though our outward man is perishing, yet the inward man is being renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory, 18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.”
